Just an update for anyone interested and in the same position, after completing your final rotation the school needs to issue you a diploma to apply for your ECFMG certification. AUSOM has been very responsive and hours after receiving my final evaluation had a diploma issued to me. I sent a copy (UPS) to the ECFMG and they said it will take the ECFMG about 10 days to post my information for AUSOM to document so I can receive my certificate. While all this is going on I have already completed my exit interview and audit with AUSOM and they have everything in order and up to date. This means certification of my educational documentation for the ECFMG should be a formality. AUSOM has also completed all my paperwork with the state licensure department and I only need my ECFMG certificate to get my state license. Everything seems to be completed and thanks to the registrar's constant emails asking me to make sure everything was in and up to date made the process smooth and very fast.
So now, I'm sitting back packing and finding a place to live for me and my family, everything else is just a formality. The cost of getting a medical education at AUSOM about 70K, the cost of the admin support and matching in your first choice priceless.
