Hello everyone
I am currently a fourth year dentistry student in Damascus, Syria. With a year and a half left till graduation, I've started to seriously explore my options for postgraduate specialization but I'm a bit lost. I have my sights set on specializing in Europe, preferably in orthodontics (but I'll take what I can get - the medical field is so expensive and there are so many regulations that it seems hard to pick and choose). I know this would require me to learn a foreign language. I am considering learning German, so my question is, is it worth it to start learning the language now? Are my chances of getting a residency spot in Germany, Austria, etc. high enough? I am a US citizen, which I suppose would help. Of course, learning a language is never any harm but I'm sure you all know how hard it is to squeeze things in with our heavy workload at school.
Any information or suggestions regarding specialization in Germany or any other countries would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
