Hi Everyone,
I really need some constructive help.
I am from the United States and am currently planning on moving to Australia. I have passed the USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, Step 2 CS exams. I have also passed the Australian MCQ Part 1 exam.
I graduated from medical school back in 2008, and started working instead of progressing through to residency. My parents needed my support and I came back home to provide aid and income.
These past few years, I met my fiance (Australian) and we would like to move to Australia to start our lives. So I looked into the medical process and thought it was a good idea. Now that the Part 1 exam is over, we don't know what and how to move forward.
I've read about the "bottleneck" effect here in Australia. A lot of candidates but not enough training programs. Huge need for physicians but very hard to get there.
I was foolish enough to think that it would be a smooth transition. Not having gone through residency, I am having a very difficult time finding any job offer/position. I've been searching the web and read that some people in similar situation got through by completing an Internship year in other countries, ie India, China, etc.
So my questions are:
Is this the only way to progress for me?
If so, where are these internship programs?
How do I apply for them?
Is the internship going to be accepted by Australia?
How much will it be?
We would be so grateful for any help. Thank you all.
