COMLEX PE Failure - Would appreciate advice

Hello all,

I was hoping to get your opinion on what to do next. I am 3rd year Osteopathic medical student who recently failed the COMLEX Level 2 PE. It is the DO equivalent of a USMLE Step 2 CS. It has had an average pass rate of about 94%, although talking to an advisor who is part of the NBOME, the failure rate has gone up in recent years. I'm honestly shocked that I failed the PE - I get that I was nervous and probably a little too tired after getting sick

Originally, I had set my sights on university ACGME IM programs. Is this a possibility any more? Reading from many excellent posts here, especially Rokshana's, I know that failing is a HUGE red flag. I'm also aware of how competitive that match has become in recent years due to the sheer number of medical candidates applying.

Here are my stats:
Class rank: Top 25%
Grades: Honors with 1 high pass, honored IM
USMLE Step 1: 236
USMLE Step 2: Attempting later this summer

Is there anything I can do to maximize my chances? Would it be even worth attempting to take the Step 2 CS? I believe that DOs actually have a lower pass rate for that than the PE.
