I'm feeling very nervous about the entire process. I'm currently planning to apply for the 2014 cycle. I graduated in 2011.
Red Flags I have:
3 year gap
1 year 'Leave of Absense' in med school (grandmother went to hospice care)
Graduated from Poland, and I'm a US Citizen
Did all Rotations in year 3+4 in Poland (no US Clerkships)
Currently, I haven't done any Externships, although I plan to in Apr/May/Jun next year (2013)
I am currently studying for my Step 1 exam (planning to take in March/April). And will Take my Step 2 exam End of July/August. Step 2 cs, somewhere in between.
I'm planning to apply to family medicine and psych programs.
I just took a lot of time off from medicine, but now I want to get back in. Realistically, how high do I have to score on the Steps, and how difficult have I left this challenge for myself? With solid step scores, and Externships, do I have a good shot?
