Looking for advice......

Hey All,

Wanted to ask some of you for some advice and how to move forward since I feel like most of you would have an idea or may have been in a similar situation. I am starting a masters program in the fall in Health Science that is geared to be a gateway into a PharmD next September. However as I rattle my brain on if it is what I really want to do I keep coming back to feeling that my heart is really in medicine versus pharmacy. I have not taken the MCAT and don't have the best grades (not the worst either from what I have read). I have an engineering degree from a top engineering program and some post baccalaureate course work and have a GPA of about a 2.85. I have worked in a pharmacy for the last 2 years and as I said seem to be on track for a PharmD if I stick with the current program.

I guess what I want to know is how should I move forward with this? I am going to try to shadow a physician in the fall to see if I really do want to pursue medicine and I doubt I have the credentials for a US program but I think I can stand a chance at a Caribbean Med School and am looking into SGU and AUC. I know my grades are a barrier but will this masters help if I want to go to medicine versus the PharmD? The coursework pretty much mimics the first semester of medical school (biochem for medicine, histology, med chem, physiology, pharmacology) with a few business and policy courses added in. I know I need to take the MCAT if I want to go into medicine. Also given the competitiveness of getting a residency and my lackluster grades, will getting the MD vs. PharmD come back to haunt me in 4 years? A lot of you are in school now, what would your advice to me be?

Thanks for all your advice, I appreciate it!!
