I am a Caribbean medical student, from St. George's University. Decent student, 239 Step 1 and I want to go into Internal Medicine. I am preparing for Step 2 (a little less than a year away), Im going hard for a 250+ on Step 2. I want to apply to Winthrop University Hospital in NY, and hoping to do a clinical elective there beforehand. I was just wondering if anyone had advice about how to stand out to program directors, people who may actually hire you...would you suggest talking to them beforehand, like asking what they look for in a resident etc. or would you try to just do your best in the rotation and apply when the time comes....
would love advice, also we can make this a talk about standing out in general.
