That's all I got so far.
- First Aid is a review book, which means it does not cover all background knowledge bc the authors assume you know it. That's what makes it "high yield".
- Don't buy one until the end of Sem 3x or Sem 4 to use for COMP study.
Do NOT use the term High Yield
- Every day I heard "ohh that is so High Yield" or "need to know that it's High Yield"
- Trust me you don't know what is "high yield" until you're studying for STEP. Assume every thing on lecture slides is high yield and you'll get higher exam scores.
Use a Timer when studying
- Put one on your computer or use your phone.
- Set it for 10 hours, 12 hours, whatever you decide to study that day.
- Let it run when you're studying.
- Stop it when you're wasting time like when you're on Facebook, iMessage, taking a break, etc.
- You'll see someone in the library on Facebook/iMessage for 30 minutes, study for 30 minutes and when you ask them how much they studied they'll say "I studied for 1 hour"
- Like the gym, simply sitting their will not get you into shape, so when you're in the library treat it like your work space and study.
QBanks
- WebPath: use this for regular exam assessment, the exam q's may or may not be like these questions but its a good way to find knowledge gaps
- Goljan qbank: see Webpath
- Robbins q's: see Webpath
- UsmleRx: use this for NBME exams, do all topics for these exams bc there will be anatomy/physio/Bchm q's on the exams not just Pathology and Pharm
- Becker qbank: use this for the 2 week COMP study time
- UWorld: use this for STEP study
Rossip
- If you're the listener: pretend to listen not to be rude but walk away not remembering anything they said.
- If you're the talker: please stop, there's no Ross conspiracy to fail students or Professors making sure X amt of students repeat.
Partying and Drinking
- Save it for breaks. You're on an island with no fun bars and beer tastes terrible.
That's all I got so far.
