Im Scared and I'm looking for hope/positivity

I graduated undergrad with an absolutely terrible GPA. A 2.0. This was almost two years ago. I am now 26 and I am working full time in the corporate pharmaceuticals industry. I screwed around a lot in undergrad and didn't care about school. Now I am a bit more serious with life and want to become a doctor. Realistically SGU is my only feasible option. There is no way that I would ever be competitive for a US MD school, and even for a DO school it will take at least 2-3 years of GPA repair to be competitive. I don't want to start med school when I'm 30 which I don't want to do.

I'm in the process of doing some post bac classes that I'm doing very well in right now, and also studying hard for the MCAT. My main concern is being able to match into a residency after 4 years.

Based on some of the threads here, it seems like in a few years Carib grads will be completely obsolete from the match process. Is this true?

Obviously I'm not looking to be the country's top plastic surgeon, spinal surgeon, and/or dermatologist. Im not looking to end up in some tiny rural hospital in the middle of nowhere either. Im not asking for a residency at Harvard or Johns Hopkins, I just want to land a decent residency in a safe metropolitan area. Thats it. It seems like this is going to be impossible in the near future, is this true?

In terms of specialties, surgical specialties are gone because of the fact that I'm a Carib grad. Although I would be happy with an IM/FM residnecy, my dream fields are Anesthesiology, Neurology, Oncology, and Emergency Medicine. Are there successful SGU grads who have managed to land these residencies in the recent past? What will it take for me to make this dream of mine a reality coming from a Caribbean school?

Thanks.
