Hello all,
I failed ck - again - this was my third time and I got a 194 (pass is 203)
my other important features :
passed step 2 cs on first attempt, passed step 1 first attempt (low score : 177).
graduated in 2009.
all rotations done in acgme accredited programs in US, graduate of SGU (caribbean school)
I am canadian (i.e. need visa to do residence in US)
I'm editing this to include my canada info in case someone wants to comment on that:
MCCEE: 290
MCCQE1: 460
NAC: 65 (this is a pass, but will be retaken in september of next year probably)
no clinical rotations done in canada (I list this because its the thing that magically gets you invites in canada no matter how bad your application is otherwise)
have been interviewed a couple times each of last 3 years in canada for psych.
my first attempt at ck I think I was panicking and just wanted to get score to apply withe to residence (omg so dumb - dont do this). after my second attempt I realised my eyes hurt by the end of the exam. quite a bit. Looked into it and I found out I had amblyopia. needed 3 surgeries. took a few years to get diagnosed and treated (and now I have cool scars on my eyeballs).
did nbme before taking it the third time - it said equivalent to about 230 (can't remember exact number).
heres my dumb mistake this time around. I felt really fatigued by about the 6th block. and I spent way too much time on the advert and abstract questions and screwed up other questions as a result.
SO; my question is: is there any point in taking it a third time? is there ANY chance at matching (would like FM/Psych)? If you have suggestions for alternative careers that I might pursue at this point I would be appreciative of suggestions.
please be as candid as you would like; sugar coating it doesn't help me.
Cheers
