Hello everyone, am a long time lurker but posting for some help as I have some red flags. I'm about to go into clinical rotations and these are my stats:
1) Go to big 4
2) Step 1 score: 211
3) GPA around 2.5
Red flags:
1) Failed one course in 1st semester
2) Need a visa (canadian)
3) Took 6 months to study for step 1 (I initially had planned to study 5 months but had to push it back due to the passing away of a family member).
4) Took 3 months after step to set me up in rotations (normally it takes school 2-2.5 months to set people up), the delay was due to missing antibodies in my titer and getting them re done
5) As a result of delays most likely will not make 2014 match, which was originally planned
Any advice on what I can do to almost guarantee a residency spot? Am looking at psych most likely as I am pretty much obsessed with the topic.
Any help on how to ensure I get a residency would be appreciated. I'm hearing that PDs are becoming more and more strict about delays and visas are become more scarce. Thanks so much.
