Severe teeth pain..should I extract those teeth or go for cavity treatments?

Hi! I have been experiencing severe pain on my upper left teeth over last few weeks and I finally decided to remove those teeth. I think it is because of the cavities and I'm planning to go to Thornhill Smile Centre to extract those teeth and replace it by dental implants. I’m not sure whether my teeth are fully damaged by cavities, if not, then should I extract those teeth or go for cavity treatments like filling and other methods? Any idea?

should i consider to take step 1 again after a few years ?

I failed my step 1 before 2008, so ecfmg's 7 years rule about transfer credits don't apply to my situation, i think. the original school won't certify me to take it again. I want to transfer to another school in order to be able to get certified to take step 1. (any suggestions? I don't want to repeat any classes. )

I talked to one person from another school's admission office, he told me that it has been so long, and i got "dismissed" by the original school, so it doesn't look good on my part. and many things have changed, especially psychology. (is this part true?) so he suggested that i should start it all over again. i was disappointed of course, but then i thought that if i pass step 1, i will learn all new things during the clinical rotations. so does it really matter that i finished my basic science classes so long ago?

of course, i know that my chance will be slim if i barely pass step 1 this time. somehow, i believe in the "american dream". if i study hard this time, hopefully get an average step 1 score, and work hard during those clinical rotations. will i be able to get matched (anywhere, i won't be picky) at all? or would i be wasting time and money trying to finish this journey at all?

2. what do most of those caribbean medical school graduates do if they can't get matched the first or the second time? can they work anything closely related to medicine at all?

which caribbean school should i consider transferring?

hello.

i failed step 1 before 2008, i am considering to take it again. which caribbean schools should i consider? i want to transfer to a school that doesn't require me to repeat any classes, and ideally, the one with lower tuition. after all, clinical rotations should all be the same no matter which schools i pick.

thanks.

States we can apply to

Those who have done Texas rotations are not green book. Contact the texas medical board if you have any doubts or questions. Think about it- if auc which has been teying for so many years to get tx rotations cant how can we? Bc they ensure that all there rotarions done by students is greenbook and will not allow their students to not rotate at non greenbook hospitals. So why would they allow us. Well bc our rotations arent Greenbook. However if you set up your own rotations through connections, and they are greenbook, then the state becomes open to you. Same thing with pennslyvania and new jersey. New york is not possible unless you did all your cores at jnf in kitts. Michigan ohio illinois and most midwest states are open. Not sure about tennessee or kansas though bc of some weird clause

Virginia is desired by all applicants. the founder of windsor used to live in virginia. But it really depends on the year you apply. It is a state where it almost seems like everyone who entered a residency program has some connection to the field. One of my friends who matched there mom is a pediatrician in the department of pediatrics in richmond. She tells me that most of the residents had some link almost sometimes directly to the departments. Its all based on luck the year you apply

Florida you can apply. Georgia yes. Arizona yes.

West coast- get outta here. Oregon is literally on a case by case basis and washington is filled worh applicants from cali med schools who cant get a residency spot in cali and would rather stay on the west coast.

Ohio, illinois, and michigan are def the states with the highest chance of matching. Wisconsin surprisigly is a desired place for american grads. Minnesota can go either way

MA yes. vermont yes. Most northeast is open. Hopefully this helps this years applicants!

3 Things To Do Before Your Med School Interview

Being accepted for an interview to a medical school can be very exciting. Being accepted for an interview is a great accomplishment because it means that a medical school is interested in having you as one of their students. According to pre-medical advisors from Missouri State University, the purpose of the interview is to get to know the student beyond the textbook.

The admission committee is looking to get to know the students on a more personal level, so you should walk into the interview knowing that you have impressed them with your grades and MCAT scores (so take a breath first!) and look at the interview as a way to have a conversation with the school you are applying to. However, that does not mean you should go into the interview completely unprepared. You may not have to take as much time preparing for the interview like you would for the MCAT, but here are a few things you can do to better prepare for the interview.

1. Dress Code:
Dress to impress. This is a professional school and a professional career where you will be responsible for taking care of the lives of others. You want to show medical schools that you are serious about this.
For men you should wear a suit with a tie. For women you should wear a suit with a skirt or pants. The skirt should not be too short or too tight. It is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes because you maybe walking a lot and perhaps maybe even taking a tour of the campus.

2. Know Exactly Where To Drive For The Interview:
It will not hurt if you arrive early and part of this means getting a good night sleep. If you have to travel a long way to the location of the interview plan that head of time the day before the big interview. If by some reason you do arrive late make sure you apologize for being late when you arrive. This shows that you acknowledge that you arrived late and you are not trying to sneak under the radar.

3. Engage And Be Excited To Be There:

This probably obvious to anyone, but when you are nervous it can be sometimes hard to show it. You should not be nervous - so keep telling yourself that; remember the medical school is interested in you. When the interviewer is talking to you relax and make eye contact with him or her and remember to smile and shake their hand and tell them it is a pleasure for you to be there. Medical schools want students who want to be there.
