Haven't posted a while due to busy schedule.... In pediatrics rotation now... So have free time.. Gonna do some advice posts
1) First Aid Step 2CS.... Read it 2-3x, and memorize it!!!!!!
2) Practice.... with multiple people.... I learned tons of tiny tricks from different people... Though 3 people max in a group is the way to go.... Anymore creates a cluster F.......
3) Kaplan Step 2CS is heavily subsidized, since school pays for most of it... So go to it.... It's really similar to the actual test........ The comments they give you from patients are MONEY! They can be very pedantic, but otherwise useful. The written portion comment was trash for me. They had like 20 SGU students, and 4 people to look over like 20 students x 12 papers, in 2-3 hours. So the advice for paper was just copy paste....
4) First Aid Step 2CS... I must repeat this......
5) I did really well on the CIS section... The trick was....
- You don't have to promise them that everything will be okay. I just promised that I will do my best to make sure that everything can be done, and we will work as a team to fix this.
- They gonna say something really wrong. "Can I have antibiotics?" When it's obvious a viral infection. I just said "You are right, sometimes antibiotics can treat respiratory infections; Though in this situation it's a viral infection." Gotta validate their feelings.
- Ask stuff that sometimes isn't related to medicine. Hobbies and so on.
6) I did bad on ICE, passed with just ** above grey line. So no advice there.
7) Use the hand sanitizer.....
8) My experience was different from what most people said on forum.... Like 7 actors kept their mouthhh shuttttt..... I had to basically pry everything with a crowbar. Others will just practically just blurt out everything. The other 7 though will be like... "Yes... No... I only vomit yesterday" Other actors be like "I vomited yesterday once, no blood in it.... I also had a fever 3 days before etc...."
